...especially in the church, where we prize what has already been created.
I suspect that often what is going on in that context is actually something else—a similar dynamic , often shared by institutions like the church and politics. Religion is often about something on the order of policy. And policy is often about preservation of something (real or not).
But, historically, church, when free of politics, has often been the thing that has altered the course public policy because it is a voice that comes from a different source, from on-going creation not preservation.
But, this is really hard work.
